Andy Schiller is a musician and recording artist, and a resident of Tecumseh Michigan. He teaches music lessons locally at the Tecumseh String Studio and online at BeyondGuitar.com.

Andy was influenced at a young age by Commander Mark and the Secret City, a kid’s drawing show on PBS. He developed an eye for art, but pursued music as a career. He started painting at the age of 49. The largest inspiration Andy had to create art was when a Lakota medicine man told him “when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. This motivated Andy to create abstract paintings that can be displayed in any orientation or direction… there is NO side which is “up” or “down” in Andy’s art. The paintings are meant to be rotated every so often, so that the observer can get a fresh perspective.

He attended Siena Heights University in Adrian Michigan during the 90s. During his college years, Andy studied art history at the Louvre during a summer semester in Paris, France.

Andy and his family lived near Boulder Colorado for nearly two decades before returning to Lenawee County in 2018.

Andy’s biggest influences in the current painting world are J-MO, Simon Bull, and Olga Soby. He uses large sized canvases, places them horizontally, and pours the paint from above. Some of the techniques he uses are swipes, dips, tilting, and forced air from a blow-dryer. Most of Andy’s work so far has been abstract… however, he is turning his attention to still life and landscapes. His next series of paintings is coffee in cups, using the pour and tilt technique. This allows the result to look just like a freshly brewed cappuccino. Andy works almost exclusively on gallery-wrapped canvas, which means that the art is meant to be displayed without a frame.

Andy is currently taking commissions, and selling his work for $50 per square foot.
